HSSH RECORDS NEVER-SEEN-BEFORE OPENING BOX-OFFICE COLLECTIONS!

Last week, Sooraj Barjatya - Salman Khan magnum opus opened Hum Saath Saath Hain based on Ramayana, opened to an earth-shattering response all over the country. The opening of HSSH was sensational and record breaking everywhere except some parts of Delhi, Indore and Gujarat . The Barjatya's blockbuster was released on a record number of prints 405. Of these 121 were released in overseas territory. The film netted Rs. 1,02,49,256 during its first week in Bombay territory. This itself is a record in movie history. No film apart from HSSH has breached Rs. 1 crore mark during it's first week in Bombay territory. The record was earlier held by Biwi No. 1 with nett gross of Rs. 70,91,896 . HSSH opened with an speculator response of 91 per cent in Bombay and about 80 per cent to 85 per cent in other circuits but the collections in Delhi-U.P. were not excellent, it opened about 71 per cent there. The film business is commendable considering the fact that it released on pre-diwali which is considered one of the worst release date.

The trade figures do not surprise us as the film was expected to do roaring business in the first week. The film has become the fastest money spinner in the history of Hindi cinema. The film has collected historic and never-seen-before amount 18 crores (including overseas) in first week. If the film had not been accepted the business would not have doubled after Diwali. It is breaking all records in the India and overseas market. It is likely to surpass the collections of Biwi No. 1 (29 crores) by fourth week in India and is expected to cross last year's biggest Kuch Kuch Hota Hai in many circuits. It is definitely the biggest blockbuster of the year", Komal Nahata said.

Taran Adarsh, editor of Trade Guide, said, "It is a super-duper hit and will definitely turn out to be the biggest hit of the year. I really don't understand why the film didn't took a flying start in Gujarat, Indore and Delhi. May be the reason was the music of the film was not that popular. But even in case of Hum Aapke Hain Koun, the music became a hit after the film was released. I am sure the same will be true for HSSH. And the eighth day collection of the film is certainly better than that of the first day".

Amod Mehra said, It may not live upto expectations if we compare it to Sooraj's earlier film but the historic first week collections has assured that the film will prove a bonafide superhit at box office. He says, only in Delhi-U.P. , it has not done remarkably well but in rest circuits its is doing wonder

Meanwhile, the film is setting all time new records in Overseas, in its first three days of release, grossed $651,575 with 59 prints at the per screen average of $11,043 which is higher than any film in the charts, including the top Hollywood studio films.

In the UK, the film was already in the top 10 in the first three days. The trend further seems to indicate that both in the UK and the US the film is likely to climb the charts in the coming weeks and is likely to sustain the tempo longer than Subhash Ghai's Taal.
