The clear hits of 1991 were Saajan , Phool Aur Kaante , Sanam Bewafa , Sadak , Saudagar , Hum , Izzat , Kurbaan , Phool Bane Angaray and .  Then there were films like Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin,  Patthar Ke Phool , Narsimha , 100 Days, Hafta Bandh , Ayee Milan Ki Raat and Maa  — each of these films did very well in some parts of India but failed to be strong in many parts.






Sawan Kumar Tak has everyone reason to celebrate the big success of Saajan . Following the mega success of Saajan everywhere in the towns of India. Saajan is the biggest grosser of 1991 leaving even Subhash Ghai's much hyped Saudagar at box-office. The extraordinary success of low budgeted blockbusters Sanam Bewafa and Phool Aur Kaante gave tremendous bucks to distributors and producers. 


EVERYONE who is any one has been sighing in ecstasy at the very men- tion of Salman Khan. No- thing to o be said about what happens when he is seen on screen or wise. The indications till recently were that any film above a crore of rupees needed Salman Khan if it had any intention of getting back the money. The mega success of Saajan , Sanam Bewafa and the success of Kurbaan and Patthar Ke Phool consolidated the position of Salman as the new number one. Even the failure of Love hadn't done any harm to him . To say even Love recovered its cost , thanks to low price and good business from South circuits.


Madhuri Dixit once again repeat the extraordinary success of Tezaab , Tridev , Ram Lakhan and Dil with Saajan . Madhuri leave all her contemporaries trail in the race of number one this year. 


Jackie Shroff has reigned supreme this year. The success of 100 Days , Izzat and Hafta Bandh has once again established the fact that Jackie is the ' Dharmendra ' of this generation. Sanjay Dutt, who had to struggle for 11 years , hit the bull eye with two major mega hits Saajan and Sadak. Dutt is now among the top leading hero of bollywood along with his Saajan co-star Salman Khan.
