" Sadhana " Scheduled For A Release In August
There are three qualities which every film of distinction posses — a good story , sensitive treatment and memorable performances by the stars , Ek Hi Rasta (the biggest box-office grossing hit of 1956) and Naya Daur (the second biggest box-office grossing film of India), the B.R. Films releases for 1956 and 1957 respectively , were both acclaimed for possessing this ingredients in immense measure . Their Sadhana, selected for a country-wide release in August , 1958 , is planned by B.R. Films to be in tradition of its distinguished predecessors.
Based on a screenplay by Pt Mukharam Sharma , Sadhana is a story of one women—and through her , of Woman : of Woman condemned by society to suffer for her sins to which men force her.
Vijayantimala is detyped in the character of Champa—the woman in Sadhana. Sunil Dutt , Leela Chitnis , Radhakrishnan and Manmohn Krishna are the others who embellish the picture with their performances.
It was a difficult assignment writing its lyrics . Sahir Ludhianvi fills the bill by his beautiful lyrics—each one a story by itself. The film's songs and dances (choreographed by Sohanlal) have been set music by Datta.
